About Lisa (owner/therapist):

I remember, even as a teenager, of having the ability to ease pain and relieve tension in others through touch.  Family members would tell me I gave the best massages.  In junior high/high school I was always the one to come to the aid of a teammate in pain.  It wasn't until many years later that I found myself sitting in the College of Arts and Sciences at Kansas State University, browsing through the book of degree/coursework options, that I decided to pursue a degree in the medical field. After 6 years in college I found myself doing what had come to me naturally so many years before.  

I earned a Bachelor of Life Science degree from Kansas State University (1995) and completed my formal education at Wichita State University, earning my Master of Physical Therapy degree (1998). I spent the first 10 years of my career with Via Christi and credit them with providing the opportunity to explore the holistic side of medicine and rehabilitation and develop skills that laid a strong foundation for becoming the practitioner I am today.  In 2009 I joined a practice in Newton where I continue to work part-time.

In April of 2010 I found myself actively pursuing a career in massage and bodywork.  The idea of a career change had entered my mind many times in prior years, however, change is difficult and I had worked so hard for what I had achieved.   On April 14th I walked in to Body and Soul Massage School and signed up for classes that would begin in 5 days.  Janna and Jennifer, co-owners and instructors at Body and Soul, provide a great atmosphere backed by experience, unparalleled skill and support that greatly enhance the learning experience.  It was the positive feedback and encouragement from my instructors and clients during my initial coursework that provided the motivation for opening my business ahead of schedule.  The following are client testimonials from class clinicals:
